AVNER FINBERG

The Fantasy was written as part of the Music Composition Course at Freie Universität Berlin International Summer and Winter University FUBiS 2013. Written during the centennial year of Wagner’s death, the piece is written using two apparently conflicting techniques: a Webernian interval set, and a hidden theme from Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde. The use of these two elements in tandem ties together the conflicting identities of traditional harmony and contemporary music in one musical narrative.
